Prana Vinyasa
Nivel · Todos los nivelesLevel · All levels
It is a vinyasa: fluid, dynamic, with the breath setting the pace. Shiva Rea created it. What sets it apart is how the sequence is built. It does not arrive whole, it comes in pieces that keep coming back until the body understands them.
A movement comes back three, four times. With pulses: you move in and out of the shape instead of holding still inside it. Nobody dictates where exactly your foot goes. You find it yourself, from passing through so many times. By the time the whole posture shows up, you have already rehearsed it in pieces.
The first few minutes are free, soft movement with no shape to chase: a meditation in motion. It lands you before the rest begins, and it sets the tone for everything after.
Each sequence turns around a theme, most often one of the five elements: earth, water, fire, air and space. The earth one feels heavy, feet firmly anchored. The water one is all undulation through hips and spine. The fire one asks. There are also classes built on the chakras. The theme decides the pace and the postures, it is not decoration.
Solares y lunaresSolar and lunar
That is how the practices are classed. Solar ones raise your energy: faster, hotter, more standing work. Lunar ones drop to the floor and hold longer. Lunar is not a synonym for easy. There are lunar classes that leave you shaking, the work simply sits somewhere else.

De dónde vieneWhere it comes from
Prana is the energy that moves through the body; vinyasa is placing movement with intention. From Krishnamacharya it inherits vinyasa krama, the idea that a practice is built in ordered stages. From tantra and ayurveda it takes the view that the body moves in the same cycles as the sea and the seasons. That is where the elements come from, and why there are solar and lunar classes.
¿Para quién es?Who is it for?
For anyone who enjoys moving and wants a class that does not repeat. If you come from set sequences, this is fresh air. If you are just starting, building it in pieces lets you in without feeling lost. The intensity depends on whether the day’s class is solar or lunar.
